Fire Staff Assistant (Part-time)

The mission of the Troy Fire Department is to provide the highest possible level of fire protection, rescue, and hazard mitigation services to the community. This is accomplished with a team of professionals, both volunteer and career, by providing community risk reduction services; firefighter training; emergency operations; and planning.
DUTIES
Note: The duties performed are separate from, and in addition to, any service as a volunteer firefighter. Any volunteer firefighter service performed remains unpaid.
- Support the Fire Department staff by performing office work, running errands and other department-related tasks.
- Drive to fire stations and/or other locations to pick up and deliver mail, supplies, and equipment.
- Transport vehicles, fire apparatus, and equipment for repairs and maintenance.
- Perform computer data entry as required including use of mobile devices.
- Maintain Knox Box key inventory management, which includes processing inspection and inventory forms, prioritizing locations, assigning/scheduling inspections, and updating data.
- Perform related work as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be current City of Troy Volunteer Firefighter and have successfully completed the probation period.
- High school graduate (or GED equivalent).
- Must have at the time of application, and maintain, a valid Michigan driver license with a good driving record (based on City of Troy standards).
- Must be available for shifts as required by department.
- Preference will be given to applicants based on schedule availability.
- Applicants must submit a description of their current and anticipated future availability with their application.
HOURS
Part-time, year-round.
Schedule will vary between 8 to 24 hours per week depending on staffing levels.
Work days may vary, depending on department needs and personal availability.
