Under the direction of the Safety Town Coordinator and Recreation Supervisor, the Safety Town Instructor will be responsible for teaching/instructing safety techniques to children entering Kindergarten and 1st grade.


  • Implement lesson plans prepared by Safety Town Coordinator
  • Serve as a role model for children by displaying positive attitude, respect for each child and being sensitive to children's needs
  • Communicate necessary information with parents
  • Do safety checks on town, bicycles and signs daily
  • Set up and take down of town
  • Meet weekly with supervisor
  • Monitor children's safety, including understanding and being able to implement emergency check-in/out procedures
  • Assist Safety Town Coordinator with evaluation of program and children
  • Assist speakers (Police Dept, Fire Dept, Ambulance, Louie The Lightning Bug)
  • Direct group in songs, and field trips
  • Knowledge of operation of TV/VCR
  • Assume other duties as assigned
  • As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen (including marijuana).


  • Prefer experience in teaching or another related field


Part-time; seasonal.

Monday - Thursday; Training session in May then Mid-June through Early-August. 28 hours per week.
