Senior Coordinator (Part-time)
Starting at $16.00 to $18.00/hour
Troy's 50+ program provides activities and services to persons 50 and older, but adults of all ages are welcome to register for most programs. The Troy Community Center serves as a focal point to gather for programs offering support, information, activity, socialization and personal growth.
DUTIES
- Develops, plans, and implements daily operations of senior programs offered by the Troy Recreation Department, in coordination with the Senior Recreation Supervisor.
- Practices excellent customer service and preventative safety.
- Oversees volunteers for specific senior programs, implementing and interpreting policies and procedures.
- Monitors senior programs to ensure that activities are running smoothly and safely.
- Assists Senior Recreation Supervisor in planning special events and day trips.
REQUIREMENTS
- High school degree or GED equivalent
- Ability to work effectively both in a team setting and independently.
- Proficient with computer software programs including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Must possess a valid Michigan Driver License with a good driving record (based on city standards).
- As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen (including marijuana).
- Obtain CPR/First Aid certification within 6 months of hire.
PREFERENCES
- Prefer one (1) year of recent work experience in the gerontology field, senior living, recreation planning, or closely related field.
- Prefer one (1) year of experience planning events and schedule coordination.
HOURS
Part-time, approx. 20-30 hours per week.
Schedule and availability must be attentive to programming and customer service needs. Regular schedule includes three to four (3-4) days per week with occasional evening and weekend hours for special events.
